Preparing a Commercial Insurance Submission
Prepare the account context for a construction or energy insurance conversation with Shepherd, from operations and project scope to requested coverage.
Make the account easy to understand
A useful submission starts with a clear explanation of the insured’s business and the placement being requested. For construction and energy accounts, identify who performs the work, where it takes place and whether the request concerns an annual program or a specific project.
Frame the coverage request
Explain which lines you want to discuss: General Liability, Commercial Auto, Workers’ Compensation, Excess Casualty or Builder’s Risk. If the account involves an OCIP or CCIP, describe the proposed sponsor and project structure.
Describe the requested policy period and the project schedule where applicable. Highlight contract requirements, requested limits and any relationships between the proposed coverage and existing policies. The underwriting team can confirm the applications and supporting materials needed for the specific lines and account.
Include the operational context
Explain the work, project values or other relevant exposure information, locations and participating entities. If the insured uses eligible partner technology, raise Shepherd Savings in the conversation so the team can review whether the account qualifies.
This is a preparation guide, not an exhaustive application checklist. Submission requirements vary with the placement, and underwriting review determines eligibility and terms.
Connect with Shepherd
Use Contact Shepherd to discuss the account and broker relationship. Existing appointed brokers can work with their Shepherd underwriting team. For more context, explore Primary Casualty and the customer story library.
